I was born and raised on a farm in Central Minnesota, the youngest of ten children. After High School I was drafted into the Army and served in Japan for 18 months right after the Korean War. Completing my military service and returning home, I began working in the Lumber Industry. I met my wife-to-be shortly after returning home. We were married a year later and have raised four sons. My wife and I both turned our lives over to the Lord and became "Born Again" when our youngest son was born. He has Down Syndrome and is the joy of our lives.
After getting very involved in our Church, teaching Sunday School and becoming Sunday School Superintendent for a period of time, I asked the Lord if Hr had part-time ministry for me besides the Church. At this time I was managing a Wholesale Building Material Supply Firm. Within less than a month's time I was introduced to the ministry of Gideon's International. I joined the ministry and God moved me on a fast track to be involved on the State Cabinet of the Minnesota Gideon Ministry. I had opportunity to speak to Churches for this ministry and also do some pulpit supply ministry in Churches when the pastor had to be gone. I had an opportunity to travel to Kenya, Africa to distribute Bibles in that country with men from six other countries.
After twelve years of ministry with Gideon's International, I felt the Lord speaking to my heart again and closing the door on that ministry. I began to pray, "Lord, do you have full-time ministry for me?" Within two weeks after praying that prayer, I was told that I was going to be "let go" out of my place of employment. My wife and I realized that this was God closing another door and He would open a new door of ministry for us.
He called me into full-time Parish Ministry. I enrolled in Seminary, taking courses at AFLC Free Lutheran Church Seminary. Within six months, I received a call from Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Virginia, Minnesota, and I have been pastoring this Church since. I began serving the Congregation 20 years ago, and I will remain serving here until God has a different plan for my life and calling. To God be the Glory.
